can someone enlighten me? IFS outers on an SA
alright so i have searched and cant find anything and ive been allover the site for a while now.
my question is about ifs outers on a solid axle after a sas. how does it work and does it give you the same track width. when i do a sas i would rather not run spacers personal prefrence.
i read somwhere on here about this but i cant seem to find it and searching hasnt turned anything up i posted in this section as to not be yelled at by easily iratables with newbs. haha.
any help would be appreciated. sorry for spelling. if its to bad. haha.
thanks yall in advance.

Some stuff from Pirate that looks sketchy and another thread from the same guy as linked above with better pics. I'd swear there was a good write up of this on off-road.com years ago but darned if I can find it.

now has anyone ever swapped both axles out of an 84 or 85 to get the same track width? or am i trying to solve a problem i should just learn to live with.

Havent seen any one swap both axles, but I wouldnt see why not. It seems like a good idea if you dont want to run spacers. If you can live with your truck being narrow, then go for it. I personally would swap the IFS parts over to not have to run spacers.

From: Nashville TN. I can help you if you're close BUT NOBODY CAN HELP YOU IF YOU DON'T FILL YOUR LOCATION IN!
Why? Lol, a 60's R&P is just a smig larger than 8"
And weighs a bit more...
In a nutshell YODA34, here's your answer
You gain 3" of wheel track b/c the mounting surface the studs go through are farther out on the spindle.
...But this requires you to mount the caliper OUT SIDE the bosses or "ears" you normally bolt the caliper to, only on the inside.

yea I have been searching on this too as I am in the process of building a front axle for my 89 runner, You just swap the hub to the ifs hub and then mount the fj60 or 80 not sure which rotor to the back. and move the caliper to the inside, looks better than running spacers. another option that i have read is use the ifs hub and them a 97 tacoma 4wd rotor over it like most cars the wheel actually tightens against it to hold it on and mount the caliper on the inside also. use a v6 caliper in both instances.
