brake problem sm1 may know?

brake problem sm1 may know?

i lost all brakes yesterday. they just went to the floor. so i bled them, little bit of air but not much. an peddle still going to the floor there is nothing happpening. 75 series landcruiser 92 mod 4.2 diesel. any help would be great. thanks

You probably need a new master cylinder.

agreed...we're assuming you truly bled properly starting at the farthest wheel from the cylinder and so on...

yeh bled all properly. im thnkn it needs a new cylinder, i took it of an the seal on the piston is has little chips of it and is a bit perished.

I would guess you had no external fluid loss you saw anywhere??

That would point you to another problem .

nah mate there was no fluid coming out anywhere. thats why i was puzzled

There isn't any fluid loss because your master cylinder failed internally. There are a couple lip seals inside the master cylinder that provide the pumping action when you push the brake pedal and if one or both get damaged your pedal will go right to the floor. Under no load, such as for bleeding, it may pump fluid. Once under a load the fluid will move right past the seals and no brakes will be applied. This is the most likely scenario.

i understand that also. but iam loosing no fluid at all if moving past seal internally it would change level of canister. an it would be showing a wet spot smwhere on the bosster or same area.
