blown cv boot--parts?

with 229000 miles and recent bj spacers, my inner left cv boot tore and exploded grease all over the immediate area on my runner.

hmm

anyone know a parts list in addition to the inner and outer boots, or do I get just the boots? and cuz I've never doctored my runner like this, can anyone send me in the right direction to find stepwise instructions on the job?

also, looks like the factory ADDs are gonna go, I'm leaning towards Warn Premiums...any reasonable reasons why not those and instead Aisins?

if this is a repeated thread, sorry for the hassle...we're not worthy!

thanks guys!

you have auto locking hubs? most ADD trucks just have drive hubs = no moving parts.

youll have to knock (or press) the studs off the inner axle to get the CV out.

a parts washer or half a case of brakeclean and a new can of greese are the only other things you need other than boots.

Why mess with boots? You have to take the CV out anyways, why not just put in a new/remanned one that you're sure is lubed right and the boots are secured properly? A whole new halfshaft assembly is only $70 from AutoZone with a lifetime warranty...

I second the suggestion to press/knock out the studs. For easier replacement in the future, get some M12-1.25 (maybe 1.5? memory not working so good today...) x 30mm bolts and nuts and use them when you reassemble. I recommend getting grade 10.9 and plenty of them, as there are several places on your truck that use this size - brake caliper, front diff mounts, tranny crossmember

cool, thanks or the tips, guys

I found Bob 98's Aisin hub install, that should be pretty similar to Warn hub install, right?

so anyone know the process to remove half shafts? I can't imagine it's only as hard as removing the brake caliper, knocking out the shaft studs, and viola..?

All you need to do is remove the ADD hub, remove the snap ring, remove the flange studs (dont damage the threads) and with a little coaxing the axle will come out without removing anything else.

I recommend you get OEM boots. I put aftermarket axles on mine, and the first time out both inner boots ripped....with the OEM I had no problem.

I have some Aisin hubs for sale. Look in the for sale section.
