Another Classic Body Lift Thread

Hey guys, I don't post much on here, as I can usually answer my questions with a search. But I was looking for people's opinions on a 1" or 2" body lift.

I would just choose the simplicity of the 1" because I'm not a huge fan of body lifts, BUT I also wanted to lift my drive train either 1" or 2" when I install the body lift. I would lift the drive train using 4Crawler's motor mount spacers and a BudBuilt crossmemeber that comes adjusted already.
Anyway, I was wondering if you think the benefits of the extra 1" of drive train lift (and extra 1" of body lift) is worth the cons that come with a 2" BL vs a 1" BL?
My hesitation is because I have the rear Trail Gear bumper, and I don't want to make a bracket to compensate for the 2" gap because I am fearful it will compromise the strength of the bumper. And I obviously don't want to leave the gap. If I went with the 1" then I wouldn't modify the bumper...
Also, does a 2" BL expose the frame rail much? Because I hate seeing exposed frame rail.
Is anyone running an unmodified Trail-Gear bumper with a body lift? Pics?
Let me know what you think! &Please don't flame, that's why I put it in the newb section! I appreciate it, guys!
Thanks,
Jake

I'm not the biggest fan either. I installed BJ spacers, but wish it was an inch or two higher. On a tight budget, body lift seems like the simple solution, since SAS/LT isn't an option at this point.
I know a body lift doesn't do anything for performance besides larger tires, so I wanted to gain some off-road benefits by also lifting the drive train to gain ground clearance. That way, the body lift actually serves a purpose other than looks and tires.
Considering all the pros and cons(performance and aesthetics) of this body/drive train lift, I was hoping for opinions on which height (1" or 2") to go with? Thanks again.

Wabbit, I plan on lifting the drive train(engine, tranny, and t-case) and gas tank the same amount as I lift the body, so I'm afraid it won't be too much easier to work on:/
But glad to hear the bumpers look good with 1", thanks! Do you think the rear bumper would look goofy with 2"?

I have a 4Crawler 1" body lift with new Energy Suspension body mount bushings on my 88 excab and had the same setup on my 86 4runner. I never had any problems with either setup.
Bodylifts are fine if you use common sense. I will also plug 4crawler because Roger makes well thought out quality products.

nmtoy, Did you find a noticeable difference in ride quality with the Energy Suspension body mount bushings? I plan on ordering from 4crawler as he is so knowledgeable.
Wabbit, do you happen to have any pictures of your TG rear bumper with the body lift? I would appreciate it.

I did the body lift because I plan to do a 3.4 eventually. The new body mount bushings Made the truck a little quieter and made it feel a little tighter and maybe ride a bit better. The 25 year old rubber bushings were pretty shot.
