93 22re starts ok, runs for 3 seconds, runs rough, dies
Ok everyone. I recently acquired a 93 truck with a 22re. I have done a bunch of looking around the forum at posts like this and havent seemed to find anyone else with exactly this issue. So as the title of the post states, it starts fine, runs for 3 seconds, then starts to sputter and get extremely rough and dies. I tried a MAF and that wasnt the issue. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

Just to clarify even further, I can rev the engine (its still rough and doesnt run well, but RPMs will increase). The truck will not move though, even with increased rpm.

Yes sir, it has. I knew this was gonna be a project truck right out of the chute. Honestly, one of the things Ive always wanted was to have a diesel converted yota, so Ive actually already yanked the 22re that was in it and have begun cleaning and prepping the rest of the chassis.

The first thing you should do is check the Engine Computer for codes.
To check for codes, find the "Diagnosis" connector by the under-hood fuse box and jump the E1 and TE1 terminals to set the Engine Computer into diagnostic mode. The jumper can just be a paper clip bent to reach to both terminals.
Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position and count the number of flashes of the check engine light.
Below is the factory procedure for checking codes and what the different codes mean.

I have been trying to do that. Once I got it to continuously flash now it wont flash at all. I have put plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, changed fuel injectors, fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump relay, ignition coil, temp sensor, afm sensor, tps, fuel pump, n EGR valve. I didn't mind changing all those parts on a 25 year old truck, but I'm ready to get it fixed and just drive it. fuel mileage went from 18mpg to about 10mpg when this started happening.
