Exclamation 92 22RE engine Problems ROUGH IDLE

I just bougt a sweet 92 toyota pickup. It needs some engine work, but cosmetically its the one i've always wanted. Heres the problem:

The engine idles rough almost to where the engine wants to shut off.
The engines vibration is a little excessive.

I took my truck into the shop. All that was done was New Spark Plugs, distributor cap, spark plug wires. The mechanic said i had low compression in one of the cylinders. How can i adjust that? and I supposeably have a vacuum leak on the intake manifold gasket. Im reaching out to the Net because that ripoff dude wanted to charge me 1050.00 to "fix it for sure" I just dont want to deal with that. Does anyone have any advice/step by step?

Hate to say it, rough idle could be a head gasket getting ready to go. What cylinder has low comp? Do you see any leaks or sign of HG letting go? Mileage?

Ok so. I was elbows deep for 2 days. Had a Fire. I replaced my intake manifold gaskets, some new vacuum lines,re-insulated some burnt wires, teflon tape to my banjo bolt. Fired her up and She purred like a kitten. my fire jacked up my throttle cable so im waiting for the one i ordered. other than that i just tore apart the inside. gonna reupholster the bench seat and put in a new carpet. freakin sweet.

Nice job. Sucks about the fire. So now if its starts in with a rough idle you know it has to be the head gasket. You gone through just about everything else.
