86 4x4 need AC!! Unit is there, need tensioner?
I have a 22RE 1986 toyota 4x4. I was told by the old owner they took off the belt for the ac to gain horsepower. I am wanting to try and get it working, cause it is HOT here in Phoenix. My question is, does anyone have a picture of theres, so I can see if there is a tensioner I am missing? Would anyone know the part number, cause I can't find one. I would imagine if I put a belt on it would just spin. Somebody help, please!! A picture of a 22re's AC pump would be great. Thank you very much

Actually below the unit appears to be a bracket that some sort of tensioner mounts to and slides. The ac compressor is fixed and cannot be moved or adjusted. Does anyone have any other idea's? Or one like this?

Yep, that sounds like the AC belt tensioner pulley, it sits between the compressor and the crank pulley on the bottom side of the belt as I recall. Tensioner works just like the power steering belt tensioner pulley. Loosen the bolt through the pulley they the adjuster bolt can be turned to move the pulley in or out as needed. Same length belt as the alternator/water pump.
