so this spring i want to put a lift in my 4runner. i would rather have an all in one type kit just to get it done. im lookin for 4" i guess, i wanna keep the runner as a DD. about 2 years ago i had a 91 pickup and put a 4.5 rough country in it and loved the kit. any suggestions on the 85?
also iv been reading about the steering mods and am unsure of what i "need" and should get. kits

You can buy 4'' lift springs that will bolt in, do not use lift blocks because they cause axle wrap and thats bad. You will also need a new set of shocks. If you want to go with high steer you will need a steering box from a second gen truck or 4Runner.

From: Nashville TN. I can help you if you're close BUT NOBODY CAN HELP YOU IF YOU DON'T FILL YOUR LOCATION IN!
4" of lift is not gonna be fun as a DD IMO...
Then you'll need tires... Then you'll need gears... Then you'll keep getting stuck b/c you have open diffs... Then you'll need lockers...
IMO if you want quality, you gotta pay. And you can get a OME 2~1/2" lift and you will love it. (Search it. Not a bad word is said about it)
But, alas, it's not cheap so I doubt you'll give it a 2nd look.
On lift springs, and especially A.M lift springs in the generic 4", I've seen and heard a ton of bad things said about them. Cheap, saggy, soft, etc after some time.
I've seen enough to know I'd go Rears Up Front long before I'd buy from the "AutoZone" type suppliers of the off-road scene.
Plus, Rears Up Front will require/work with the IFS box needed for Hi-Steer.
If you buy lift springs, do it from a niche supplier. Someone who specializes in Toyota's.
Don't be afraid to spend some coin, and keep them doing what they do for us.

do i need the crossover steering? oh and even with my yota mostly stock i want LOCKERS BAD! and gears.
i think i wanna run 33x10.5s bfg ATs, i want taller but i dont need extra tire on the road.
i mosly wanna do light off road, mud, deep snow, light rock crawling..
i also own a 04 EVO but my yota daily lover. i sold my 91 toy reg cab with 4.5" rough country, 3" body (that i hated and sold a month after install), and 33x12.5 mud rovers. before the body lift i didnt mind the 4"

i'd jump on that box if shipping doesn't hurt too bad...hard to come across good PS boxes for cheap.
i honestly believe in doing everything RIGHT the first time.
so my vote goes to springs from Trail-Gear, Marlin, or Allpro..or Wabfab if you wanna support a yotatech vendor.
you could always get a Custom pack made by Alcan, and you won't find a bad word about them anywhere either.
Alcan can make them HOWEVER you want.
they could make you some 4" spring packs that are flexy as all get out and ride like a caddy..while maintaining the lift for a long period of time.
Crossover steering is an AMAZING upgrade. it's a NIGHT AND DAY difference between the stock push pull steering
