What are you trying to accomplish? Putting a 4Runner 4 link under a truck?
IMHO, the factory 4 link setup has several weaknesses that are easily addressed, and one that is not so easily addressed...
- all the brackets hang down. Off the frame, off the axle, everywhere - just waiting to get tagged by rocks
- the lower links are not very strong
- the upper links are very weak
- use of regular bushings limits articulation and smoothness
- triangulated uppers and parallel lowers results in binding
- little triangulation in the uppers requires use of panhard bar
After ripping one of the lower link mounts off the frame, I set about redoing mine to address these deficiencies. It came out REALLY well, and was no more work than installing the factory setup would be.

umm no i just bought a 4runner and its lifted and i was wondering what the people did befor me lift it and how they mounted it all up and i got a question what keeps the axel from droping is it the shocks?

Yes, usually the shocks limit the droop travel. There are only compression bumpstops (the rubber things inside the springs)
One thing to watch for with a lot of lift is if they didn't drop the upper panhard bar mount down, the rear axle might be shifted to the side.
