4runner 4wd issue

okay so i just test-drove a 1993 4runner sr5 v6 5 speed with the auto hubs and when i put it into 4 hi and 4 lo the light did not come on the dash and only the rear wheels spun. i talked to the dealer who thought the 4wd was thought the 4wd was working (because nobody had used 4wd in the last year) and he said he would check it out. this was two days ago and he called me today to inform me that it was fixed and the 4wd works properly now. i asked him what the problem was and he said that there was an issue with a vacuum line but hes got the 4wd working now.

so my question is this, is this a fairly common issue? should i trust that this is only minor and will not happen to it again after i purchase it? if it does happen again, is it an inexpensive / easy fix?

Thanks for any help, Evan

any way a vacuum line would cause the 4wd to stop working?

btw, you do not have auto hubs. You have ADD. The hubs are always locked in via the ADD drive flanges.

Did you read the web page I posted above? If not, you would know the answer,

Hint, the title of that page is "The Automatic Disconnecting Differential system"
