4run deisel not starting.
I have a 98 4runner with a deisel. Each morning when I try to start the truck it cranks but it wont start and then after about 5 mins and trying maybe 3 times it starts right up. If I let it warm up and then shut it down it starts up like nothing and runs beautifully. Does anyone have any ideas of what the problem could be? Thanks.

its prolly your glow plugs.. or your fuel filter could need to be changed.. are you running 10w40 or 0w40???
glowplugs get toyota, ngk or bosch ONLY !!!!
a upper rad hose heater or block heater are good..
but my toyota diesel starts -40 with a 15 second glow!

because diesels do not have sparkplugs, they are normally harder to start in colder temperatures the cranking moves the pistons therefore causing a little bit of friction, and thus enough heat to ignite through compression, Older diesel engines can be expecially hard to crank in cold temps. One method Ive seen, normally on big rigs, but all the same, put a blanket under the hood on the engine block, close the hood and use a space heater to heat up the engine block, but thats normally in extremely cold temps
Hope that helped

Thank you everybody for your help. everything is beauty now. I took it in to the shop and they told me I needed new glow plugs. starts right up now no problems with about 10 second glow, before I was letting it go for at least a minute and then trying. Thanks again.
p.s. yeah the trucks from japan i just picked it up for $700 its pretty damn clean too.
