Hey guys, sorry if this has been asked before, but i have searched the forums on this topic.

I have a 1986 4Runner 4X4 22RE 5Spd.

I noticed slight noise coming from under my truck a couple days ago. then this morning on my way home from work within a 10-15 minute time frame the noise got progressively worse to where i had to park it and get it towed. the noise is like a rattling/clunking sound coming from the transmission/transfer area. the sound occurs only while rolling and gets louder and worse the faster i go. it happens in all gears including reverse and it happens if im in neutral too(while rolling that is). Also i can feel a slight vibration in the shifter whenever the noise comes.
Any and all info will be appreciated. Thanks.

 

Probably a bearing going bad in the tranny. Might be time for a rebuild if its got high miles.

Hey Guys, thanks for the replies. i guess that means ill be dropping the trans sometime soon.

 

Sorry Guys, one more question.

i looked through the previous owners maintenance records and found that they had a shop put in a Remaned Trans about 10,000 miles ago. could it possibly be the transfer.
