22r Weber and offen. intake help!

So i scored a weber 32/36 and offenhauser intake from one of my buddies. I'm in the process of putting it on, but am kinda stuck. Does any body know where the two lines go on the first pic? And on the second pic, there is a larger coolant line, can that be blocked off? If not, what should I do with it. The new intake manifold has no where for this to go.. Thanks any help is appreciated!

the coolant is fine to block off, that runs coolant in the intake to heat up the fuel. (why I have no idea but it's not needed. LC engineering has a block off plate that you can put on the timing cover for that. You might as well pick up the EGR block off plate too while your at it, with the weber the EGR gets deleted.

I see several hoses in that first pic. The top one that is curled over goes to the PCV on the back of the valve cover.

the other off the "V" is for the fuel. And I cant see where that bottom one and the other two are going to. One of them might be for the brake booster since that would come off of manifold vacuum as well.

if you can edit the photo to mark which ones you still need to know and also take a photo of the bottom of that intake. WHich I believe is also plumbed for that bottom water plate that can get transferred over from the old intake if you don't want to block off that coolant line mentioned earlier.

Oh okay thats right, The big hose at the bottom of the first pic looks like it is a coolant line, it has a metal flange with two bolt holes on the end of it.. now on the second pic the big coolant line, can i just cap the line off for now until i get the block off plates in the mail? thanks a lot man

if i could see what the bottom of that intake it looks like that hose that comes off of it would go to that coolant line you want to cap off. you'd just have an extra hose that's not needed.

I can get a pic when im get home from school, but the coolant line on the new intake manifold will hook up to the front of the motor, but the larger coolant line that is in the second pic, it hooks to that black box thing, its what has me puzzled.

that black box thing is not a part of the coolant system, it called a reed valve and is a part of the PAIR system. the other part of that hose goes into a ball type looking thing which would then go into the original air cleaner assembly. Which is also now deleted. I have to look and see what exactly I did with that, but I think I just kept the ball looking thing attached but disabled the vacuum hose to it so it did not open.

Another way to completely diable that "black box" reed valve/PAIR system is to rip that whole tube out of there which wraps around the back of the motor and goes into the exhaust manifold and replace it with these: Air Injection Tube Blockoff Plate Kit

That box and hose are for the PAIR injection. Buy the blockoff plates form LCE or make your own and block of the PAIR injection system at the exhaust manifold. About all the PAIR injection does is introduce air into the exhaust to continue the combustion process and burn off any unburned fuel, so you really don't need it

Ok, well i got a header that i just put on and i made block off plates for that right above the header, this is what you are referring to right? So do i need a block off plate for anything else? Other than the EGR.

nope if you used the air injection plates to install the header then you can completely remove that reed valve and associated piping. FYI, there is a bracket behind that head that is bolted in if you try to take that out of there.

still curious on what's going on with the bottom of that intake though. WHat I would do if you want to is get the water block off plates as well from LCE while your getting the EGR plate kit.

Just make your own EGR cover plate out of a steel electrical cover plate. It'll cost you a whole 50 cents compared to the $20 one from LCE. Trace the pattern from the EGR onto the electrical plate and cut it out with an angle grinder and drill the holes. Good post...I was wondering what to do with the PAIR injection stuff!

Thats what i was thinking, i have some some like 1 1/2" flat bar laying around thats what i made the block off plates for the air injection ˟˟˟˟ above the intake manifold.. I'll prolly make it out of that it should work just fine! I got one more question, there is one coolant line that comes off the new intake mani and it runs right to like the timing cover/waterpump.. Can i hook up just that one and block off the rest? I need to get the truck going this weekend because elk season is opening up on saturday.. Otherwise i would order the block offs from LCE

i forget offhand where the other side of that coolant goes, I want to say it's supposed to go into the center of the head, which is why LCE sells the block off plates.

I would have to look at how my stock one is set up. but according to the LCE site the offy intakes need this block off but I not not 100% if that is compleely accurate, I think it only applies if your using the lower block off plate under the intake in the last photo. :

Ya it looks like there is a sensor of some sort that goes in the center of the head right now.. I was thinking about making a block off plate out of some flat steel for that? Thanks again for all the help
