stock with the exception of bilstein HDs and the running boards removed. Would like to use a larger tire if i can without having the tires rub. But if i have to go back to the 265/70/16s i will. Not really interested in lifting.

what exactly are you asking here? What's the largest size you can get away with with no lift? If so then 265/75-16's are the biggest. I think your 2000 model sits the lowest of any 3rd gen 4runner too (96-02) along with the 2001 & 2002, I might be mistaken though. 265/75's might be pushing it but I'm sure someone else will chime in.

 

I can't see any reason you can't run 265/75-16. Some are bigger than others. I'm running the Yokohama AT/S which is big for the 265/75-16 on stock wheels. I have zero rubbing. True I do have 3"+ of lift but when flexed out I still don't rub.

 

I ran those sized tires w/o lift on my 2000, had no problems.

 

You want to keep those mud flaps up front or chew em up?

You may encounter rubbing at the front mud flap with 265/75/16s under full lock turns or in reverse or under flex load. There are subtle size differences in various tires even with same listed size.

 

I agree with Ron. Prior to my 1" body lift my BFG KO's in 265/75/16's rubbed at full lock and some load. As you probably know, BFG KO's have chunky tread blocks so that may have had something to do with it.

My sig shows my 1999 with 265/75/16. But I have the stock "tall" spings, I think. I've rubbed once when going into a steep parking lot too fast.

I have a friend that runs the 265/75/16 BFG All Terrains on his 2001 4runner, even has the running boards on it still. I can tell his tires are closer to the fender but I never heard him say they rub. He does complain about the VSC all the time however He does light off roading and the 265/75 are ok. They will look bigger of course.

So some run larger then others marked the same size. Do you know if the geolandars run large?

 

I use the tire rack dot com website as it has good charts with diameters and revolutions per mile and so on.

Honestly do not know about the Geolanders specifically. Tread depth itself is a factor in my decision on what to buy. If I can get a new tire with 15/32's as opposed to one with only 11/32nds then it gives me a clue to which one has more 'dig' into sand or snow or rain dispersion.

 

I had a set of the Revos in 265/75/r16 on my 2000 limted and they rubbed at full lock and about everytime you hit a dip or curb too hard, etc. After adding a 1" body lift they were OK.

 

These are the stats taken right off the tire rack specs page for the yoko geolandar at/s. It looks like the chances of the 275/70/16 not rubbing are better then the 265/75/16 given the stock height of my 00' limited.
