Please help! 2006 Tacoma fog lights?
#1
Hey. I am new here trying to do some research for my grandpa so any help would be great.
He bought a 2006 Tacoma xs cab, 4x2, auto, 4-cyl, srs package
He wanted fog lights and the paper for the truck says it has them but there arnt any on the truck. He went back to the dealer and they said it was a mis-print and it is not possible to get fog lights on the 4-cyl Tacomas (BS?). They offered him $200 back to to keep on good terms but in my experiance they are probably worth more then that plus labor to install.
So any info you could give me would be great cause it pisses me off thinking they might be just giving him the run around cause hes older.
o and hes in South Carolina and I'm in CA so I cant check out the rig in person.
Thanks for any help
Dave

Good luck. Tell him NOT to throw that piece of paper with the foglight typo on it. Also, if they want to see it, show them a photocopy. Do not let them get their hands on the original.

I even gave you advice on who to call next.
What else do you want? Some of this you *might* have to do on your own!

First of all, have him take the $200 form the stealership and run if he hasn't already.
Secondly, even IF the rig isn't wired for fog lights they're easy enough to add. Most decent fog light kits come with all the wiring, switch, relay, etc.. Do a Google search (plus the other info from the posts above) and find what fits the existing bumper.

I am fine with trying to get information on my own but I am in the middle of finals and dealerships wont give out price info over the phone so I thought this would be the best way of getting the information before next weekend.
Thank you for all the help

Toyota of Escondido (North of San Diego)
(888) 870-2227
Gave me the price:
$206.50 per light
He confirmed that Toyota doesn't make a *kit* for it, but you can always wire it yourself. ie: wire it to the battery and then wire a switch up to it. Lot's of dealers suck, you just have to find a good one to call. I've never had problems getting quotes over the phone in So. California.

hold the phone......
is the missprint on the window sticker or the paperwork between the salesman and the buyer? and or, did he already ink the deal, and drive off the lot without a "we'll fixit-it" piece of paper.....
either way, their making enough money to refund the full value of what they said they'll sell you.... like +$200- per light easy....
i just had a brainstorm..... bring it to another dealer, and ask for a written estimate for the install of factory fogs..... bring the estimate to the seller, and tell him..... refund this amount, or do the work, and save some cash....

Well first no that model does not come with fog lights, but I do know a few people over at www.tundrasolutions.com have added non-factory fog lights to theirs. Don't know how much they paid but I would take the $200 from the stealer if I was him. The opening will hold a 4 1/2" fog light so that is a starting point for you as far as finding some aftermarket ones.

Just to let everyone know, the 4 cylinder Tacos do not have fogs, nor are their wiring harnesses equiped for them. The good new is that you can buy a kit from toyotapart.com that contains the bulk of what you need. i.e. 2 lights, switch, relay, pigtails. All OEM stuff. The kit price is $341 and some change plus shipping. My 4x4 4 cyl does not have them and I'm going to put them in after Christmas. P.S. My experience with toyotapart.com has been great. Greg responds quickly and the prices are more in line of what they should be.
