Concerned?

Had my oil changed today. Specs call for 5W30 oil. The Yota dealership put 5W20 in. What can happen? and What should I do? Vehicle has 15K on it.

5w-20 is for new vehicles.... it is thinner. Shouldn't hurt anything. may make oil pressure drop a little.

You shouldnt have a problem at all. Most new cars run 5-20 and the hybrids run 0-20

Dealer said Toyota issued a bulletin about changing all the oils to 5w-20. Anyone heard this? Spoke to dealer on the phone and he is supposed to print me a copy of the bulletin.

Better quit while you are ahead and give the truck to me. I'll make sure she gets the correct oil in there.

Compared the last two changes. One time I was charged for 7 quarts of oil. I asked them where they managed to stash the extra 1.5 quarts.

I'm not happy with the dealership.

the extra 1.5 was because they forgot to put the oil pan plug back in at first.

7 Quarts???? I couldn't fit that many in if I HAD too.

You need to go back there and raise some hell about that, because you flat out got robbed. They of all people should know EXACTLY how much oil goes in the motor, and it's not anywhere near 7.... just think, you now have an extra half gallon or so of oil in places you really don't need/want it to be.

Now that's worse than putting the 5W-20 oil in it. I think this really could cause a nuclear war.....

Untill you drain it out, and put the correct amount in....

I change my own oil in my '04 Runner ever since one skid plate bolt disappeared and another was stripped. 6 quarts of 5W30 and a new oil filter after I use the strength of ten men to get the damned filter off. I put them on myself too. I turn it until it is hand tight then 1/4 turn. When I go to remove it it has sucked in and is almost impossible to turn. Is there a fix for this? Anyone else have this problem? Other than that I love this vehicle.
