4th gen 4runner ph8a oil filter

hey guys,, anyone ever use a landcruiser oil filter on their 4th gen 4runner with the v6 ??? I had one and tried it on mine and it seems to line up and fit right, just wondering if it would work, it's about twice the size of the stock filter. thanks in advance

Yep, it will fit fine. The threads and gasket (size) are identical. I found other threads indicating lots of people use Ford filiters (like the PH8A) on Toyotas. Be sure to add a bit more oil as the bigger filter holds more.

I changed oil yesterday on the '03 I just inherited from my father, and was totally surprised at how easy it was compared to my '95 and '99 Tacos. No removing the skid plates and the filter is right on top! Wonderful!

I then bought a case of 10 new Toyota filters (90915-YZZD3) from an eBay Toyota dealer for less than $40 including shipping to my door. That's less than $4 each! I paid $11 for the Mobil 1 filter yesterday from Auto Zone (YIKES!), which prompted my eBay search for filters. Amazing what you can find on eBay.

I'd rather use a FL-1A instead of a PH8A.
