05' 4runner clicking in 4wd High

Just purchased a used a 05' 4runner and did a little trail riding the other day(grassy hills). It was the 1st time I really tried the 4wd and when i accelerated using moderate power there was clicking coming from the front left tire. Of course this is the tire im closest too so this is where i heard it, maybe it was coming from all 4. Does anyone have any idea what this is?

Mine doesn't click in 4WD, it shouldn't be clicking so I'd take it in to get it checked out if it is still under warranty. I'm assuming you have a V6 since you mention putting it in 4WD so in case you didn't know the V6 seems to have a tick tick sound when accelerating and that is normal. Was your window down and maybe you heard the sound more pronounced?

Also you don't have to wait to be on the trails to put in 4WD, you can still do it on the pavement if you want to see if you can hear the noise.

hello, did it happen when you first put it in 4wd or when it had been in 4wd for awhile ? Mine clicks when I first put it in 4wd and moving it's just engaging then, I belive, otherwise it don't. but you should have it checked out asap if it's happening when you moving along after it's locked in
