Zuk's Coil Over Leaf Thingy
Ok, well I did the coil thing a few weeks ago to solve the ol saggy ass syndrom. Worked great, but the coils I used were WAY too big, lifted the rear a good 6" or more, and threw off my pinion angle so bad my driveshaft would start virbrating even at 1.5k rpm...
SO. I picked up some rear coils off a '00 TJ for $50, and they look like they'll fit much better (hopefully only gain ~2-3" instead of 6+), but... They're double pig-tail ended instead of one side being box ended and the other pig-tailed. So one side will fit perfectly over the lower rubber bumpstop, but the other side's opening is too small to fit over the upper metal bumpstop. Tryin to think of what to do, but my mind's comin up blank... Any ideas?

Was thinkin about cuttin the pig tail, but if you do that, will the coil still sit flush with the frame? And there's not much to grind down on the bumpstop. That thing is 4"x4", and the pigtail is 3"dia, so you'd have to have a grind it down to around 2"x2" to get it to fit. And its hollow
Dunno... Trying to stay away from cuttin em off, makin new top bumpstops, and weldin em on. Mainly because I live too far away from my bud who has a welder I can use lol..

Ok yeah I just had the same idea. Tried a few things with the old longer coils from before. I cut one in half to get it to what it'd look like if you cut off the pig tail. On one I tried to heat it up with this map gas torch I have, and beat it flat. It didn't work. Got it almost red hot in places, but I couldn't get it to change shape. Would need a oxy cutting torch or something to get it hot enough I imagine. On the other half I tried using my disk sander to sand it flat. I got one similar to this:

But it didn't do much. Barely took off the black finish lol. Maybe I'll take out the jaws of life and crush that bumpstop down till its small enough...

Eh... Found the link. http://www.gearinstalls.com/dc.htm if anyone's interested. Could make a mount soooo easily if I me a welder close at hand! Even have some square tubing that'd be perfect for it...
Or if I could find me the perfect coils for it...

AHHH! I caint believe I didn't think of that! Awesome! Now I just gotta wait till manana cause my sawzall and cutoff wheel are both at the shop
Yeah, I aint gotta worry bout cuttin those lines. The proportioning valve kept on locking up my tires, so I ran a bypass

I just put a red set on a 97 Taco that had Deavers....gave him 2" lift as he carries a ton of camping gear and needed the extra support. He's on the TTORA board and I bet he posts a couple pics of the install in a day or 2.....
