Zuk Mod Questions
Hello all!
I have a 86 Sr5 4runner that is sagging in the rear a bit. I am interested in doing a Zuk mod to lift it back up and smooth out the ride. I know most mods use the Jeep coil springs because they are a perfect fit around the bump stops. The problem is I've been looking for weeks on my local craigslist and walking the flea markets searching for some jeep springs and come up empty. Are there any other make/model springs that could work for this mod?
thanks!!

Thanks!! ill keep those in mind. Im headed out to the salvage yard tomorrow to see if I can find some. If I strike out those ebay springs might be just what I need. If anyone else has any ideas on other model springs plz let me know.

did you have to modify the bump stops or did they fit over them?

With the second link provided you can also choose what poundage you want with the springs. 100, 125. Ect. More easily customized to you. I think you can also choose between an 11" and the 14" in the link. Depending on your needs.
Zuks site gearinstalls.com has some great examples of the springs used and for what applications the drivers needed them for.
If your runner is usually empty the the softer springs will probably be best, but if your rolling around with a back full of tools and fuel cans on the rear bumper then the stiffer ones would probably work better. Personally if I do it I will go with the stiffer ones because I am wanting to fav up a plate rear bumper with tire carrier and the ability to hold 2 NATO fuel cans back there. Not to mention the wife, kid, and 2 dogs as well.

I need to do this as well. Junkyard gets about 14.oo each for the coils. Seems like they would be a pain to pull having to drag a jack back there in a wheelbarrow. The JC Whitney springs for 42 bucks seems pretty good. Not sure I want to pull springs for 20 bucks worth of my time. What is the consensus. I would like to know what vehicles to pull as well. What jeep? My closest yard has these. So with the sag in my avatar I need a 8 to 12 inch tall spring with a 2 1/2 inside diameter?

Yea Salvage yard had one runner there and it was picked clean. No Wranglers, they did have some Cherokee's there and the coils were about 14 bucks each but you are right about having to yank them off and all that. I ordered the Cherokee springs for 42 bucks that way I don't feel so bad if I have to do some cutting. the springs come in on the 13th so ill get to it that weekend hopefully and let you guys know how it went.

The "2.5625" Inside diameter springs will fit perfectly around the bottom bump-stop but will NOT fit around the top bump-stop of the 1986 4Runner. It will require cutting the upper bump-stop in order to make it fit.
The 14-inch version will add a rake, requiring you to use BJ spacers in front or cranking torsion bar to make height level.
However, the 12-inch one will bring back stock height, without need to lift the front.
I'm very happy with mine (12-inch, 125 lb/inch rate) here.

Mine are 2000 Jeep Wrangler front coils. They are 16" so have be to cut down to use. Now I'd probably go for 95BlackToy's eBay springs for simplicity's sake.

Another option... I think springs for 3rd-gen 4Runner have large-diameter top that will fit around the upper bump-stop and small diameter bottom that will fit around lower bump-stop. This allows no-cut, no-weld Zuk.
