I have a 87 Toyota pickup 22r what's license plate light issues, I don't have any. I got this truck for a good deal but it's been a pain in my back end! I've done quite a bit of work to it when I noticed that there were no license plate lights on. When I got to looking around I discovered that the wires had been cut off of the assembly have any suggestions?

Do you still have the fixture? https://www.toyotapartsdirect.ca/p/T...127089123.html (Toyota claims it's out of stock, so if you need to order it be prepared for disappointment.)

If you have the fixture, you can probably just add the wires. Though 23 years of mud and salt might have taken their toll. I'd get out my multimeter, start by checking that the bulb is good, then checking that you can get continuity (not a short) through the wire attachments to the bulb.

In the end, even though you have to have one, the license plate lamp is not really a high-visibility item. You can probably pick up some universal lamp at the auto parts store and make it fit.
