I still have slow and slower speed wipers but the intermittent is the same as slower speed. I wondering if anyone knows how and if it’s worth fixing?

you'll need your multimeter to test the switch & wiring.

Being this is a 88 and all the wiper functions are in the switch .

If your good you may be able to solder in the parts that have failed

You should have a High speed and low does the wiper switch have a rheostat giving you a range of speeds

The EWD does not show one. My bad I must not have had enough Coffee yet It does have a rheostat .

time to break out the meter

For that year you might have only a random Intermittent speed from 29 years ago

I have yet to have any intermittent wipers that worked as I needed them to

it has adjustable intermittent speed, also hi and low. I meant the slow and slower to be tongue in cheek. It was working correctly about a month ago.

Measure Resistance of Intermittent Time Switch

GOOD! Next to our senses, that is the most important electrical troubleshooting tool.

Not sure about your V6 but schematic for wiper on our 22R-E's is like this:

If your wiper control stalk looks like this (Resistance values are approximate) ...

Find wiper control relay (on our 22RE's it is above the ECU behind the right-side kick panel):

Remove connector from relay and measure resistance between light green and light-green with black stripe:

RESISTANCE VALUES AT EACH POSITION SHOWN ABOVE^^^

Let us know what you get.

Keywords:
wiperintermittenttimeswitch
wiperintermittent
windshield wiper
windshieldwiper
frontwiper

On the green box in the above picture has always been the culprit to be the reason for wiper delay not working on my trucks. Pull the green box and see if it has a melted case on the back side. It does not always melt and I have seen them fail with out melting but I am betting the Wiper Delay box has failed. It is getting harder to find those boxes for a replacement. Anytime I find one in the salvage yard I buy those boxes.

Thanks, what can I say? I’m always appreciative of the troubleshooting shared on yotatech.

Now this might be important !!

According to the EWD for 86 87 and 88

Then it is possible the EWD`s are Wrong !!

86 was the last year for a separate Delay Relay Be going crazy hunting for something not there .

In 87 the delay relay is now in the switch also for 88 .

That is why I stated everything is in the switch

Maybe that might help

Oh no. Sorry, Toyota had to fix what's not broken. I don't have an 88 to do actual tests on and understand how it works..
