Functional hood scoop "99-02" 4Runner?

Some of you have seen this before. I'm just curious if this mod actually is doing anything, or anything to a degree that is noticeable.
The engine will HEAT the air going into those long tubes, which probably isn't the best idea. Right now, the stock airbox gets outside air from under the fender where it's much cooler. With his setup, you are going to be throwing in more hotter air, and I just don't know how much it could help.
On another note, the length on those tubes are really long to get that air into the box.

I hope you kept the stock air box open cause those few small hoses will not allow any appreciable airflow through. If you can notice much of a difference I would be surprised. But I applaud the creativity though.

It does look like the hoses tuck off toward the corner when the hood is closed, so they might not be heating up too much. Even though the hoses are a pretty small diameter, maybe with the engine sucking and wind force blowing that a moderate amount of air can pass through. The diameter of the hoses added up seems like it'd be close to a deckplate. Guess every bit helps. I wonder why he put five holes in the scoop, but only four hoses.

I have serious doubts this would produce anything over stock and certainly not worth the effort or cost involved. Good idea tho.

All the time spent and he hasnt even took our the silencer box, Honestly if i was to pull something like that I rather make a 6 inch diameter pvc tube sucking in from the bottom of the car. probally next to the windshield wiper fluid reservoir;.

the real purpose of a hood scoop is to produce a ram air effect if i am correct. I dont think that you would get this effect because the air is not being blwon directly in the air box. Since the air has to travel through those hideous looking hoses it would lose the all its force and it still has to pass through the filter. I bet a snorkel would have more powerr gains and lok better than that.

Lame....did anyone notice that his tubes dump directly on top of the air filter? Unless he's not running a filter, ther's no way for any air flow. The site he plumbed his intake tubes into would be directly into the plastic edge of the air filter.
