When adjusting valves how far is engine turned?

I am getting ready to do a valve adjustment and I am curious if any one knows how far to turn the engine each time? I do not want to compress a valve into my piston.

Thanks.

usually you rotate it one revoultion...unless your timing belt is messed up you shouldnt impact a valve and a piston...

The timing belt is still on but will be replaced. So if I have the timing set at 0 and adjust the valves that have the lobes up and then rotate it 360 degrees I should be able to do the other valves?

I havent ever done a 3.slow, but thats the way every other engine I have done it.... remeber your just rotating the engine thru its normal rotation, shouldnt have a problem. Pick up a haynes or a chiltons or a FSM...they will detail it out.

I have a haynes but it does not seem to talk about a valve adjustment. Just how to take them apart.
