What part of "non-reusable part" do you not understand?
http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...15componen.pdf

The ones in the junkyard are junk by default(having been used already).

Non-reusable.... lol I have reused mine more times than I can count on all 3 of mine over the years... when they get mangled, I just beat the flat with a BFH, then bend the tabs accordingly...

Trust me...we all have. My point being that Toyota recommends the we don't. And any found in the junkyard have a high probability of having been reused already too.

All kinds of things you CAN do that aren't such a good idea like wearing the same underwear for a week.

Replacing non-reusable parts is smart as it is a cheap part to replace and easily accessible. Why go to all the trouble of repacking your wheel bearings, tearing the whole axle down and not replace the lock washer (star). It's absurd. But so is torquing your 54mm nuts with a chisel/screwdriver and a hammer but plenty of obliviots do that too.

Right. Once. Done.

When you do that, you're work-hardening the metal, adding to the stress and fatigue it's already been put through while it was on the truck in the first place.

I'm glad it's worked out for you so far, but I think you're asking for trouble. It's a 2 dollar part, if I remember right - why reuse it if you don't have to?
