about that, but never bothered to ask cause the truck ran fine without it plugged into anything

LOL..Have you ever (I'm sure you have) gone through most/all of the engine bay in the mess of vacuum lines and wires and everything? I went through my '93 once and found like 5 or 6 (maybe more) plugs that didn't have anything to plug into. Then I joined YotaTech and read about the harnesses having all the connections regardless of the options.
