How about this question.

CB radio and related CB stuff, or getting some off road lights?

Theres a knock off KC set at baxters (auto part store), there like 6X9 and ill just get a bigger bulb(100w cool blue).

Id order a CB and firestik online tho, prices are amazing at cbworld.

What do you guys think?

Fastest way to do a 3.4 swap is to buy a newer runner.

Then do the SAS

CB radios only work if someone around you has a CB radio and want's to talk to you. Lighting works for you whenever you hit the switch.
On the other hand, CB'rs have channels 9 and 19 they can use if they're in trouble... hmm...
On the other other hand, I'd probably get a Wilson or Francis Maser antenna before I bought a Firestik, but good luck finding them.

Firestiks are trash. You want a decent antenna, for a decent price, Wilson 1000. Will handle upto 1000 watts of power. If you are going to run a "kicker"...linear amplifier. another good antenna for the price is the Super Penetrator, around $30-$40, and can handle up to 2000 watts. I used to the S.P. in my old rig, with my Uniden Grant XL (slightly modified ) and my Texas Star 1600W linear.....aka "16 candles"....

It all depends on what you use your truck for most. I swapped to the 3.4 - the IFS wasn't a limitation to me yet (still isn't) but going up mountain passes, using 5th gear and replacing headgaskets was.

Much better now!

I was thinking about mounting a uniden 510xl or cobra 19 DX IV, and mounting it in the ashtray, then getting a firestik 5ft from my friends truck.

Ill look in to that Wilson 1000 tho.
