So I'm putting my rig back together but won't be able to finish it till spring
The thing is I just machined the flywheel and want to install the clutch and trans before I park it but am worried the flywheel and pressure plate will start rusting over the winter. Is there something that I can use to coat it with before I assemble that won't mess up the clutch?

I was thinking about hitting it with a light coat of spray paint or something

Anyone have any Ideas?

 

paint would be bad, if you cant finish it until spring and rust is a big problem in you area and its all going to be exposed to the elements, i wouldnt even put the flywheel and clutch on then. i would put a coat of wd40 on the flywheel and then put it in a trash bag in the garage and leave the clutch in the box. then when spring comes pull the flywheel out and spray it down with some brake clean.

 

Oh, but the trash bag will retain any condensation. Spray it all down well and wrap it with towels. If you do decide to put a trash bag over it, atleast let one end remain open so it can breath.

 

oil..and check periodically.

I've done that with turned rotors before with my old Isuzu

I had a second set of rotors, and I had them turned for free. I wasn't going to use them right away, so before I set them on the shelf in the garage, I coated them thoroughly with WD40 and put each in a Walmart bag, and they set on the shelf for almost 2 years. Looked brand new when I pulled them down to use them
