So this is my 1986 toyota 4x4 efi long bed
I'm only 17 and I would love for some advice and help with what to do to this truck that will be my daily driver and some time wheeler.
I bought this for $250, when I bought it in didn't even know it was red because it was covered in algae, once I pressure washed it i realized it was read and the only rust was on the tail Gaye area and no rust on the frame or cable at all . the motor had a blown head gasket and water plugs, I pulled the motor out and the motor was in perfect shape no deep scratches or scoring or cracks, so I rebuilt it ( except he cylinder head). Once I finished rebuilding it i tried to start it. And it didnt start becuase the fuel pump wasnt working and well the people I bought it from said the drained the fuel when the parked it and the didnt... so there was 7 year old gas in the tank also. I now have to completely emplacement the tank because he tank has rust in it ( everything was corroded beyond reuse). So far I only have about $650 into this truck total including getting it licensed and tabbed.
do I have to replace Lloyd the fuel lines if there was only fuel in the tank?

Reason: Wrong title
What I do on the fuel lines is if they are clogged is fill them with Marvel Mystery Oil and let is sit for a couple of days. Then I use a rubber tipped air hose gun and blow the lines out. I have not ever replaced the fuel lines myself when they are just dirty. I would suggest pulling the Fuel Pump Assembly from the tank and remove the fuel pump when clearing the lines and to see if there is plenty of air flow.
What do I think? ... You're a freaking Lucky Guy! :)

It does not seem to have a starter relay. Auto transmission or EARLY 1986?
I suggest you, either add a starter relay (if absent) or re-wire the starter relay IF present.
I am pretty sure that the 86 and older trucks with an automatic transmission do not have the starter relay in it. Not sure about the newer trucks. I like having the starter relay myself.
So I put a clean tank in my truck and cleaned out the fuel lines.....
when I went to start it the harness went up in flames....
so I have no harness or any of the y tiny little hoses and I can't find any automatic transmission harness or engine harness that has the automatic transmission connectors. if any one could help find oneverything that would be great
I put a new tank in and there was a fuel leak somewhere that I didn't notice and when I went to start the truck the starter sparked and my harness went up in flames
