What are the consequences of running with out the rear ABS?

What are the consequences of running with out the rear ABS?
I've got a bit of a predicament. Let's hear your 2 cents.
I picked up two 4.56 diffs at Pick and Pull.
One has the ABS sensor hole, the other does not.
I would like to keep ABS in my truck (better load handling, what not). Hence why I bought the second 4.56 diff.
But the diff with the ABS hole has a chipped ring gear tooth (GRR).
What are the consequences of running with out the rear ABS?
Or should I just throw the ABS diff (w/ chipped tooth) in and see what happens?

You just take everything out of one diff (all the shims, etc) and put it in the other. The backlash will need to be set, but you should be able to negotiate with a shop to do that and check the pattern for pretty cheap.

I have not had it in my Runner for two years. It was a pretty useless system to start with. Just leave the sensor plugged in and zip tie up to your frame somewhere. If you unplug the sensor it'll throw the light on your dash. I plugged my ABS hole with a freeze plug and my sensor rides upside down bolted to the diff in the original hole

Then the gears wouldn't have to be swapped and set up. However you still might lose your ABS functionality. My ABS sensor hasn't functioned in about 5yrs I don't miss it.

Even with the ABS light on it would just be letting you know that the control valve is reverting to normal non anti-lock mode by bypassing all the electronically controlled valves and letting hydraulic pressure go straight from the master cylider to the wheels.

Yes the thirds swap right in.
Just to clear things up:
- Currently running 4.10's
- Have a Non-abs 4.56
- Have an ABS 4.56. Chipped / cracked tooth (pictured above).
What should I do?
Options:
- Leave as is (4.10's).
- Put in Non-ABS 4.56.
- Put in ABS 4.56 w/ busted tooth.

so do you have that "rear anti-lock" light in the left side of the dash? mine comes on and off as it pleases..... sorry to hijack stuwy, but to clear up my confusion, when the light is on it means the ABS is not functioning right?

I would also not use the chipped gear except in a get home situation. I'm not saying the gears would break or slip but ya never know.

It does this because you could go braking out of control if only a part of your ABS system was working properly. Instead it gets bypassed entirely so that you will be able to stop normally (manually). And yes you can then lock up the brakes.

Thats correct. ABS light on=ABS not on.

Word to that. I'm not a fan of ABS on dirt and as far as the rain, well my 3.0 barely goes fast enough to get dangerous anymore....
