its cause the factory horn is self grounded to the bracket ... pretty much all the one wire does is supply power gonna need to either cut it off and wire in 2 leads to go to both horns then run the ground wires where ever u want

Actually, it is the opposite way, the horn has constant power on one wire then the horn switch supplies the ground connection to make the horn work. The factory horn is not grounded. At least this is the way my '85 is wired.

Most of the aftermarket horns are set up with the ground via the mounting point to the body and power to make them work. So to hook one up to a Toyota, you need to insulate the horn from the sheet metal ground. Then hook the horn base to the ground wire from the horn switch.

ok, heres what i did, my new horns also came with a relay, i being the ignorant person i am...i ignored this relay....my 4runner has 2 horns, one at eachj end of the radiator, i took the 2 horns off leaving me with 2 connections, 1 at each horn, i snipped those connections off and put on 2 spade connections so they fit onto my new horns, then i got a stretch of wire and cut it in 2, one length for each side, put another 2 spades onto 1 end of both cables and connected them onto the other connection on horn, then routed them up to the negative on each battery, and my horns are working perfectly.....you think i was right to ignore relay or should i use it??? im thinking..if it aint broken...dont fix it

The horn on my '95 is 12+ switched. When I put the air horns on the truck I just extended the stock horn wire back to the air solenoid and it works fine.

I searched to see what horns you had and found this review:

http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcyc...stebel-magnum/

Is that the same one?

Do they seem any louder than what they measured in the test?

I would be comfortable running those without the relay because chances are the stock setup uses one anyway.

By the way, if you're looking for loud horns, air horns are the way to go. I guarantee mine are at least 140db if not closer to 150. I have had people swerve off the road before when I blew it at them (although they deserved it).

yeh thats my new horns, their great, the shop i bought them off are claiming their the new 139db magnums, one of them is high tone and one of them is low tone, together they sound great

do you reckon cuz i have the negative routed straight up onto my negative battery terminals this could affect the batteries holding charge??
