Anyone have any thoughts on whether or not these are bogus? Sounds too good to be true, and as Mama told me, it usually is.

Reviews from customers say they work, but who knows how legit those actually are? Just curious if anyone has installed on of these or one like it and if it actually works.

These EBAY performance chips are 20 cent resistors you can grab at radioshack. They give your ECU a false signal for either the ECT or IAT sensor, fooling your ECU into thinking that your engine is either colder or ingesting colder air respectively. Under these false pretenses your ECU will advance your ignition timing and/or add additional fuel resulting in increased power.

So it's bogus as I suspected. Thanks. Figured as much, all of the "satisfied" customers have 1 or 2 ratings, so they are probably all fake.

Well, they do work conceptually its just ridiculously overpriced and you'll only see a small boost in performance, 2-5 horsepower rather than the claimed 25.

I wouldn't suggest them at all. I haven't really ever agreed with them unless you are doing other mods along with it and it's a real one. I was thinking about purchasing one for me old toy, but never got around to it.

I know python fuel injectors are horrible. So, I surely wouldn't trust any electronic module made by them!

I used to run a Venom 400, and was very satisfied with the results at the time. Good seat of the pants difference and improved throttle response, I can't offer any good praise for the unit itself as it was installed in 2002. The unit taps into the AFM signal wire and the TPS signal wire, activating at a predetermined throttle angle to keep fuel economy decent. I just recently got rid of it in place of a split second unit.

I just got one of these V400's for my 4runner. Any tips on install? It looked pretty straight forward at first, but the directions are pretty vague. The TPS and AFM wires for the module itself has connectors on the ends, but it seems to me I'm going to have to just cut these off and splice wires. How was yours done?

Use some splice connectors to tap into your stock wiring on the AFM and TPS.

That "chip" you're talking about is a resistor. i would not recommend buying one. they are a waste of money, trust me. All these claims are false. It plugs into your IAT (intake air temperature) sensor and fools your ecu. You might get 5 hp but your biggest difference will be your fuel mileage. It should drop considerabley.

I'd love to see a dyno run.. Seems that the venom units are somewhat generic.. The only way to really develop a unit like this is with dyno time.

Venom advertises "upto 25%" performance increase.. Cough.. Cough.

The 22re and 3.0 both have oddball AFM signals... I promise there isn't that much power in messing with the mixture and timing, as I've done it via full ECU replacement.
