In my case I used an actual turbo engine (22re-t) in my swap. The turbo engine had dished pistons and a turbo head. I even rebuilt it before installing it. I should have done arp head studs when i was at it. I think my problem was that under large boost the head bolts would stretch and cause my gaskets to blow. I thought about this after I gave up on the whole 22ret engine. I was sick of replacing head gaskets.

Your turbo engine might hold the 14lbs of boost you are wanting to run, but if you want to try pushing more horsepower Arp head studs and an all copper gasket would be the way to go in order to make sure the head stays down.

I was running a 5peed tranny behind mine and it was cool to see people turn their heads when I would shift and they would hear the blow off from the turbo. With only a toyota 4x4 in sight.

The problem with trying to turbo an engine that wasn't designed for it, is: the compression ratio is higher, the cams are different, the pistons are different, the computers are different as well.

I guess you can turbo a n/a engine, but I think your boost would be limited more so than with a turbo designed engine.

Best bang for the buck. Those 250 dollar manifolds of ebay work ok. Used one before I upgraded. New manifold builds boost so much faster. Engine is much more responsive. Its $685 but I think its worth it.
