Tube bed/tailgate pics, enjoy.
I thought I would share some pics of my sas'd 87. The bed and tailgate may help some of you guys/girls when making your own. All of the tubing is 1.75" and the diamond plate is nearly 3/16" thick. I have owned the truck 5 years now and did the sas and bed last summer. I made the tailgate a couple of months ago. It works by pulling up on the bottom of the hinged license plate frame up. I could have made it simpler, but that wouldn't have been fun.

Sorry about the thumbnail pics, click for larger view. I have more pics if anybody needs to see different angles.

Thanks. I used a JD2 manual bender and it was worth every penny.
I am trying to figure out how to get my photos to come up in there original size. It is alot easier to explain how the tailgate funtions with big photos.

I haven't had anybody pull me over yet (over 1 year like this) and it is my dd. I have had state patrol behind me on the freeway and they leave me alone. This was built to drive to the trails (closest is about 90 miles away) and wheel hard. I do plan on re-registering it with hobbiest plates now that I have another vehicle for winter. Too much hard work went into this to let the salt eat it away.

that is just down right AWESOME looking man!!!
almost makes me wunna go rip my bed off!
but the fact that I don't have a tubing bender, or the time to do that, kinda henders me from doing that, lol
looks sharp though man, great job!
diamond plate and black... always goes good together...

Now I just have to work on reflectors, license plate lighting, flares, too tall...no thanks. The law must not be so uptight around these parts, or maybe it is the fact that I don't do stupid sh** when I drive in town, my driving record is clean, and that I am not 16 years old (sorry kiddies!!) doing donuts in front of the cop shop (slight exageration). Sure, I know its not 100% legal, but its close enough for this town. I feel bad for all you out there that get harrassed about trivial crap like your tires are sticking out 1/2" to far or lighting or bumpers/bumper height.
I am going to try to take more pics today with lower resolution so I can post more detailed pics. All of my photos are waaayyy over 48 kb.
