the OME's are 23.4mm , the 25mm are going to be stiffer than those

you guys mean OEM not OME right?

OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer

OME = Old Man Emu

because I think OME makes some too...

they are going to be very stiff and kill your flex

agreed... it's either height or flex when it comes to torsion bars, but not too much of both...

The OEM (stock) torsion bars are 22.8 MM
The OME (Old Man EMU torsion bars are 23.4 MM

The others I have heard of are the Sway-a-ways which are I believe 25 MM and the Downeys which I believe as mentioned were 26 MM. I thought I heard somewhere that I think Swayaway makes 24 MM's too.

I think if you are running up to 32" tires, without any added weight over the front end, the stock 22.8's are perfect and will last a very long time if not the life of the vehicle if you don't abuse it too much. I think/would imagine the 23.4's by OME are a nice compromise in not going too thick/too much spring rate, but somehow I think the reason the OME's are slightly thicker over stock is because they probably anticipated that guys might add their ARB Bumper which is heavier than stock which I would imagine if you installed in conjunction with the 23.4 torsion bars, would probably ride like the stock 22.8's with the stock bumper.

The guys who tell you, that you need 25 and 26 MM torsion bars are just appealing to your insecurity or trying to create doubt in your stock bars. The stock bars are tough, and when used in conjunction with a soft set of shocks and if they're not cranked too high, ride pretty descent too. Most I've talked to who go with the bigger 25 and 26 bars say be prepared to have your teeth rattled out.

That is a very good point on the added bumper weight. Something I had not considered in my truck mod planning.

I have 26mm ones, and they're fairly stiff, but I also have a TJM and a W6000 on the front. It's an improvement over the stocks I think, partially because I have add-a-leaf in the rear and a soft front and a stiff rear makes for some funny stuff.

If I had to do it again I would probably go with smaller (but still oversized) bars like the OME.
