Tranny Problems: 94 4Runner Automatic

I just bought a 94 4runner It is 4 wheel drive and automatic and when it is cold and sometimes when it is warm it has trouble shifting and seems like it will redline before it shifts unless I let off the gas then it shifts. Any ideas on how to fix it?

ya, let the rig warm up to normal opperating temp before driving, and see if that helps. Or does this happen all the time....like even after fully warmed?

Have changed the fluid and filters? The shift solenoids control the shift thru the valve body.If they hang it wont shift right.Go to napap and try a bottle of lube guard.Check out there web page.http://www.lubegard.com/~/C-112/LUBE...uid+Protectant

I can't help you but THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO SHIFT WHEN COLD.
They won't shift into overdrive until warmed up though.

Check the TPS. If the Throttle Position Sensor is telling the ECU that the throttle is open more than it actually is, it won't shift right.
