tranny?

Hey guys im new on here and i just bought a 1986 toyota 4x4 pickup and the transmission is bad in it. I dont know much about these trucks so i need some info on what kind of tranny it is. Any info will help me out alot

It should be a W56 but with a truck this old who knows.

Your best bet is to take some pictures then we can tell.

How do you know it is the transmisson that is bad??

Auto or manual?

If you have a manual and a 22R-E, it should be a W56. If you have a manual and a 22R, it should be a G54.

Note that these are pictured WITHOUT the 4wd transfer case.

Auto should be the A340f.

its a manual and fourth gear only works. and I found a tranny out of a 86 and it has top shift t case and mine is forward shift will that tranny work in mine with no problem?

If you have the forward shift G54 and 22R, you should be able to fit the W56 top shift from a 22R-E in the truck, but you'd probably have to trim the trans tunnel to get it to fit.
