Torn CV boot on 88 P/U
Just realized that I punctured a hole in the driver side cv boot when I installed my lift.
Is there a way to repair it or do I need to replace the boot? Is it an involved process?

You'll need to replace the boot. They are about $14 at Pepboys. Other places sell them too. They are now 20 years old.
It's not too involved. I suggest knocking out the studs that attach the inner flanges and replacing them with equivalent hardware. That makes it a lot easier to service the half shafts in the future. You'll need to remove your outer hubs and from there you'll see what you need to do to remove the shaft.
Often, the upper ball joint needs to be loosened to make for enough clearance to get the shafts out.

I just replaced the lf halfshaft on my 92 runner..no need to knock out any studs. just pulled the hubs, removed snap ring and the washer behind it, loosened the six bolts fastening the inner to the diff, pulled the lower control arm loose from ball joint...slipped right in and out. Dont get me wrong the studs made it tight but if you hold the inner to the rear if the vehicle and slide it toward the front to put it into place it should fall right in..also it helped to have the wheels turned slightly to allow a few more mm's for travel..oh by the way, i replaced the whole halfshaft ($50 w/core exchange @local auto parts). I spent more time trying to replace the boot than it took me to replace the whole darn thing.
