I just got a 48" hi-lift and was looking for ideas of where to put it. I want to put it on the roof rack, but at the same time I'm a little leary of putting it there seeing as I'm in southern California. What all have you guys done? Pics would be reat as well.

Do you plan on carrying it with you all the time or just when your out on the trails?

You could get a first gen roll bar and mount the roll bar inside then mount your hi-lift on that.

Or just have it in the back of the cargo area.

Theres actually a thread or two on here about where people have mounted their hi-lifts. Do a quick search and you should be able to find it.

 

Custom built rack with 3 threaded stud mounts. Outside two have wingnuts with safety pins. Center stud has hole for lock.

 

Do you have a print or measurements for that rack?

san jose is not so cal. if your worried about it getting stolen i wouldnt worry to much. most people in san jose wont even know what it is. heres how i mounted mine. it is bolted to the thule crossbars with a mount that i made with scrap metal. i can get a better pic if you want.

 

I just built it to fit on the factory runners. I can take some measurements though.

 

I know perfectly well that San Jose isn't SoCal. haha. I'm going to school in Orange county, but when not in school, I'm bck home in San Jose. Anything is fair game down here where I'm living for school.

 

if your really concerned about it getting stolen, which i can see happening in so-cal. mounting it on the inside would probly the best route. the 1st gen roll bar in the rear is a good idea i used to have mine mounted that way. but then moved it to the roof rack after i bought one. i think it just looks cooler up there. and im not realy worried about it getting stolen.

 

Boy that would be great. I would like to have one like that fab'ed up for me!
