Timing chain slack ...is this normal ?
I replaced my timing chain and new metal guides, new gears ,new tensioner. It looks like I have to much slack on the drivers side when assembled...is this normal ? Will it go away once the engine is started and tensioner gets oil pressure behind it ? This is not my video, but I have the same exact tension going on as this guy..but with new chain/guides/and tensioner installed..

The driver's side should be tighter than the passenger side. There's too much slack.

The engine hasn't been started yet, and the tensioner was pushed all the way in, it came out and put tension against the passenger side, but there is still no oil pressure behind the tensioner.
If the chain jumped a tooth down below, wouldn't it bind up , and not spin around ?

The chain should be loose on the drivers side. If you spin the engine backwards by hand it'll tighten up. if it has jumped a tooth it'll still turn. Do you have metal or plastic guides? The video you showed did look too loose though.

I put new metal guides and chain in. The chain did tighten up when I moved the pulley back and forth 180', still alittle loose , but nothing compared to the video. I was afraid to start the truck at first, and figured I ask before a problem popped up.....once the truck was running, the chain was tight. Thanks for the help !
