22R timing chain knock or rod?

Installed powersteering on my 4runners swapped 22R, sounded fine yesterday before the swap. Could it be the pulley that I installed today being out of alignment?

Went to fire it up today and......

Looks a little cock-eyed? Space on top- zero, bottom looks like it has a tiny bit.

Well, its a no-brainer.

Take the belt off and fire it up.

You'll know instantly.

Touché sir! First thing tomorrow. Was curious if anyone could diagnose the problem, if it were a big issue. Thank you for the response, I'll update tomorrow

You could have air in the system. Air in the fluid doesn't typically sound like that, but it could be your issue. Did you bleed the power steering pump before you started it? You should have turned the wheel from lock to lock several times and topped off the fluid before you started it. Also, you should be using Automatic Transmission Fluid - NOT power steering fluid.

Thanks for the replies! Fortunately it was just the bolts on the pulley that backed out, causing the rattling. I put loctite on them and all seems to be good now. Very relieved that it want something serious, as it is due for the Timing chain overhaul. Which was just ordered from Engnbldr, in a panic it might have been that.
