I have an 87' Pickup I just got and it needs a tailgate. Will the tailgate from an 88' work? I noticed my bed looks newer than some of the 87's when I google it. Did they change the design mid year, or is it possible my truck has a different bed?

 

Which bed do you have? There are two different beds. Not sure if the tailgates are interchangeable between types of beds. The 88 would work if it is same style.

Thre are two styles of beds. One is the USA style, and one is for the rest of the world. Go figure, murica wanted to be different and had to make their own box. Anyways, yes, an 84-88 tailgate will fit, regardless of box style. It will just look funny if its a tailgate from the other style.

Correct. As stated above, your looking for a 84-88 tailgate.
