Cool Sweet!!!!! Dual Cases

Just got my MC07 from the Fedex guy today and picked up my top shift t case! I don't think the install will take place till like the second week of August when I'm off, but I can't wait to get 'em in. It'll be dual 2.28 cases for now, then later down the road I'll upgrade to a 23 spline and 4.7's in the rear, but that won't be for a couple years after I SAS it.

I'll try and make a write up when I do the install, but idk if I'm gunna want to deal with the camera so we'll see

Haha it's been like two months......................... I'll probably do a write up but it just won't be super detailed, there's already detailed write-ups from Marlin and TG on their websites.

For 23 splines you needed to have the 23 spline adapter NOW to build your duals then add the 23 spline 4.7 gears later. Did you?

I know, and nope it's the 21 spline cause it's a 21 spline case out of an 83. I think I can just get the 23 spline coupler (whatever it's called) and swap it out....if not, I'll sell these cases and buy a prebuilt dual case set up. That won't be for another 4 years at least so I'll deal with it later...shoot by then, maybe they'll have somethin better out anyways

Sorry, I'm tired. Meant to say that you need a 23 spline adapter to do the 23 spline 4.7 gears, so you'd be spending money twice and tearing it apart twice...but for now what you are doing will be better than most.

I realize that, but I'm not fiscal enough to save my money and do it right the first time I'll be fine with the dual 2.28's for a while, and double low with 4.7's is too easy anyways, where's the fun in just idling over everything?? try wheelin on the tough rocky trails in Nor Cal with stock gears that's a fun time with the clutch

By the way do you have buckets? I want to do dual cases but I think my bench seat will be in the way of the twin sticks, on the rear case!

haha I definitely have another set of doors that wouldn't be fun at all in the winter time however it has rained on me with them on a couple times and it actually wasn't too bad....but wouldn't wanna do it in serious rain!

Why even bother with the 23 spline. You're gonna run it with the 21 spline anyway.. why even upgrade if the 21 setup works just fine?

I wouldn't even waste the money honestly (on upgrading to 23's)

I plan to do duals as well, but no plans to add 4.7's. My buddy has a single case 4.7 setup, i like it a lot! Lil Jealous but with duals you retain 2.28 reverse which is MIGHTY handy in the mud! with the single 4.7 setup you drop reverse so low it's almost worthless in the mud ... just tid bit facts for the day hehe

I'd upgrade to 23 spline because it's stronger. And when I'd add the 4.7's in the rear case, it'd be the same time as I put a sfa under the truck and get some 35-37 inch tires and when you wheel on rocks lots of torque gets built up in the drivetrain and things like to break. I don't do mud anymore, it's just a pita and not that fun in my opinion, I'd rather crawl around on rocks. I'll be running Marlin 4.7 gears which have the total spline technology output shaft which makes them alot stronger than stock, so I may run 21 spline and see how it holds up and if it starts breaking on me I'll upgrade...we'll see when I get there.

And so it begins...

Well after wrestling my transmission all of this morning, I finally have the beast laying in my garage floor. I've got a leak somewhere, I though it was the transmission so I got a new seal for it, but I think I may have a rear main seal leak as well....how much of a pita is that? The more I think about it the more I figure I might as well replace that while I'm in there...
