Question swampers

I can get a set of 32/11.5/15 super swamper TSL's like new for $500. Are they worth it and will they fit my stock pickup without trimming the body too much?

I put some 32 General tires on my 88 and they would not work. They rubbed bad. This is with no lift. I doubt they will work without some major cutting or a lift of some sort.

yeah, my 31" A/Ts rub a little tiny bit w/o a lift. im thinkin that 32 in. swampers will, however, you could fix that for cheap, just adjust the torsion bars, and do add-a-leaf or a shackle lift in the back.

I have 32x 11.5x 15 bfg at's, and yes they will rub like crazy without a lift. You need about 2" to keep em from rubbing in the front on turns.

Yes, what % tread are they? All you gotta do is buy a simple 2 inch BL from RB and you are good to go.

I am running 32 x 10.50 R15 super swamper radial TSLs on my truck all I have is the torsion bars cranked a little and a add a leaf in the rear. They only rub at full lock going over a large bump

What do you want to use them for?

The "real" TSL's are bias ply and they SUCK on the road. Great offroad though. They are SUPER loud and cost me about 2MPG.

Interesting you guys are having so much trouble fitting 32x11.50 - what is the BS on the rims? I fit 33x10.50 with no problem (on the factory rims) and 34x9.50 on 4"BS rims with not too bad rubbing after minor trimming.

Fill out your signature line so we at least know what kind of truck your talking about without guessing at your Avatar picture. My cousin ran BFG 32X11.50's on his 93 PU fine with no lift. To repeat though Swampers look cool and all but they absolutely suck on the pavement. Your truck will drive like giant POS and it'll be so loud you won't be able to talk to the person sitting next to you.

4wheelparts lists TSL/SX's in 32x11.50 for $170 each plus shipping...

http://www.4wheelparts.com/PDT65136.aspx

Seems like a pretty good price you're getting to me.

I ran my 32x11.50 AT's for a few years before I threw on a 3"bl. They rubbed pretty good until I cranked the tbars about 1.5 inch then the rubbing was bearable. They still rubbed mind you, but it was at least tolerable.

After the 3" bl though there is not only no rubbing, I could clear 33x12.50's with no rubbing either.

if you want a real offroad tire, the TSL is it. you won't want the bias ply, only the radial.

i had 33x10.50R15 TSL radials on my mildly lifted 4runner. i was careful to get wheels w/ the right backspacing and had no real rubbing issues that a hammer couldn't fix. i was careful to rotate and balance them frequently. they actually weren't THAT bad on the road. i eventually had to toss them in the trash with tread still left when the tread started to seperate from the sidewall.

I have 33x12.5 TSL radials on mine with a 2" BL. Love them except on snow or ice.
Mud they are GREAT.
Wearing good. I have around 25K plus on them. I rotate them every 3K at oil change and check the pressure's every weekend. They MIGHT be half worn.
Yes they are loud but I don't think they are that bad.
I love them. Will buy another set when these are gone.
But like someone said you don't want the bias ply. You want the radials.
A friend has the bias on his bronco2 and it handles and rides like s**t, flat spots REAL bad for several miles after it's sat overnight.
Good luck

I'm getting ready to buy a set of irok radials and that's the main reason i won't consider the bias version. My ride to work is only 8 miles and I know enough about bias tires to know that they'll barely smooth out in that distance when its cool out...

I don't feel like bouncing for 2-3 miles first thing in the morning.

Radials have a better contact patch too. With modern tire technology there isn't any reason to buy bias unless you just can't afford radials...

I am not sure if they are bias or radial but I am only going to run them when i need them. I will keep my ATs for everyday driving. So if $500 is a good deal I will get them, and it sounds like we all agree that it is. So, looks like next weekend I will have myself some swampers. Now I just need a 2" BL.

Well sort of. Radials are the ONLY way to go if the tires will see much, if any, time on the street, but bias plys are FAR superior off road because the tread flexes instead of the sidewall, allowing airing down to be a lot more effective without the loss of ground clearance.
