I have a 3.0 1991 that clicks when i try to start .I know there was a site or link on this but i cannot locate it can anyone help. Thanks

Hi: I had a single click with every turn - went thru 3 starters, new battery, ignition switch, but never could get someone to follow the wires with volt meter to find where voltage was not happening. Finally, read about ground & although mechanics swear they checked all grounds - Mine from firewall to engine wasn't connected to the engine, just a 6" wire double connected to the firewall (when the guy redid engine - he forgot to reconnect it). It amazes me that could be it - Started over 50xs now & without that slight hesitation at click sound when SLOWLY turning key. I'll get someone to check the voltage going to & from first next time. 4crawler is on top with starter stuff too & will answer emails. Good Luck!!

 

Have been working on the runner since i posted and fallowed the links that 4crawler and advise from yosemite Stars mentioned and narrowed down to the same problem of faulty ground cleaned terminals on starter and check then rechecked all wires and found a ground that was not replaced correctly. the ground was on the correct bolt but was not tight . Thanks For all The help.
