Start cold then die
I have been really struggling with my 91 4runner for about 6 months any help would be great. I live 80 miles from the nearest Toyota dealer and would have taken it in if I could. Here is the rundown:
It wouldn’t start at all. I pulled the plugs and all of them were soaked in fuel. I changed them out along with new wires and cap. It starts now but it runs rough and dies after it worms up. If you wait for a while it will start again but only after it cools down.
Sometimes it will have thick gas partials shooting out the tail pipe that will fill up the shop and hang out like a mist. This morning it started and ran better without the mist but when you give it gas it will start to die then shoot black smoke out the tail pipe. If you back off from the throttle the exhaust turns white again.
I have changed the computer and the water temp sensor. There are no codes in the computer.
If you have any idea what this could be or own a car trailer and live in south west Wyoming and are willing to let me barrow it to haul this thing to Rock Springs please let me know.
I have taken it to a repair shop here and they said “take it to a dealer”
