Speedo cable gear?

Hey all,I just got a new sr5 cluster for my truck since all my guages were shot to hell and back.Anways I noticed that the speedo is slower than my last one.My last one wasnt very reliable either most of the time it was stuck at 30 haha.So I just checked the converter on 4crawler.com and his clculator feels about right im guess I truly am running around 55 when the speedo says 45.I have 31x 10.5s on my truck and stock 4:10s.

ok ok enough rambling I need to know where to find toyota cable gears so i can correct my speed.I have searched the net for a hr or two and no luck at all.

Or myabe you guys have another way to fix it?idk I just would like to get it fixed up

are you sure you have 4.10s? have you checked your axle code?
hell just put a gps on your dash and read it for your speed.

How many teeth do you have now? I've seen 18 and 20 tooth gears.

Might also check with a local speedometer shop. They can build you up a calibration gear box to screw into the back of the t-case where the speedo cable normally goes to correct the error. I used to run one on my '85 when I had 33s and 5.29 gears. Or swap out the differentials with a set of 4.56 gears and the speedo will be correct and the truck will have more pep as well.

Wow, that's good to know. I always just dealt with how much the speedo was off.

I need to replace my speedo cable on my 90 4runner. It is a heinous operation or simple? Seems like it should be pretty straight forward.

I mean call him. He's got stuff that's not on the website.
I did my SAS with Marlin shock hoops, wheel spacers, and some stuff that's not on the site at the time.
I even have his short throw kit for my 5 spd.
