Southern California- need a 22re!!!!!
My 22re is eating oil at a rate of 1 qt. every 300 miles. I'm done screwing around with this problem!!!!!! What are your guys thoughts on a reman./refab. 22re's. Where can I get a sound motor installed around here??? I have heard horror stories of guys buying crappy motors with cheap rings and gaskets that start leaking in three months. I need to do this quick as hunting season is around the corner and this is my limo to the woods.
One more question! What else should I replace when I do this???? Thanks in advance, James

I'm 350 miles into a completely rebuilt 22RE that starts fine, runs fine, runs smoooooth, and no weird noises. Will tentatively recommend the place: Edding's Engine Rebuilding in San Fernando, CA. They have a website. They did a remove, rebuild, and install on mine. Took 2 working weeks. Not cheap, but as they were rebuilding an already-been-rebuilt engine, it needed more stuff. Talk to Jerry...he's the decider/owner.

Not cheap =...
...original est $3700...went a little over that. Yeah, I had one of those ATK brand $1800 ready-made rebuilts previously. I had it rebuilt at 60K miles-I don't think it was gonna make 70K. It had multiple problems from the beginning, developed more later. Get the best you can afford, of course...you could be lucky and get the one that they accidentally rebuilt correctly!
