They give you a lot of side support when you're bouncing around and the heat is a really nice addition 'cause this is my "winter driver".

Curious;

Do people mind sharing their size/body type? This is a very important factor, as most seats aren't for most people. My back is 52" at the shoulder blades/under the armpits. ... narrow bolster seats KILL ME within 100 miles, especially considering all my soft tissue injuries.

I think the Lincoln or some Van or Corbeau Wide Back seats might be the only aftermarket- way to go for me, if I Tri that again. .... Does anyone else have this problem?

 

you hafta be careful about full-size truck/van seats. toyota seats are only about 5 inches off the floor, while van seats are a good 15-20 (measured from the floor to the top of the bottom cushion). i had that trouble with my mustang seats, as they had extra stuff underneath that raised them up a good 3 inches. i promptly removed that and the seats sit at about the perfect height now.

I've been looking at the corbeau baja seats, they got good reviews and look comfy enough.



Something like these might be good for you, they've also got suspension built into them too.

 

I swapped in a 2nd row fold up leather captain's chair from a toyota sienna that I picked up cheap.

Ditched the sliders b/c those were far too difficult to attach and would have made the seat too high

I made my own base from some 1/8"x2" flat stock. bolted the seat to the base, bolted base to the floor. Fixed position seat. Removed the rear fold bench seat while I was at it.

 

What did it take to mount the Scion Tc seats? They look decent and I see two people parting them out nearby me.

 

It wasn't too bad. Picked up the seats for $75 on craigslist. They had all the electric seat motors underneath that had to be removed. The dimentions of the actual seat was not that far off from the factory buckets, at least in the hieght. Once the motors were removed it lowered the hieght by 4". Then I just cut some wire channel and bolted my factory seat mounts to the aftermarket seats. If I had the motivation I could still wire up the lumbar controls, and there may be a seat heater in there too... but aint nobody got time for that.

Been riding happy ever since!

I met someone the other day that put in seats from a mid 90's Buick. I wasn't for a few minutes and I have to admit they were absolutely Cush! I'm not sure how great they would do off road... But on long trips? Oh heck yeah! Hahaha

Those look really comfortable, I'm curious if you got them. The one thing I can't stand is losing reclining feature. No way ! Lol. They do not look like they recline... I'll have to look it up. I thought the Odyssey seats look extremely comfortable, and these are looking pretty sick as well! Very nice, especially for people who tour a lot, not just wheel.

Well, I wrote up and did video on every step,.... I'm pretty sure. I'll look back ASAP. Basically, you have to bend the tabs on the tracks up front downward, shave off for the corners on the inside so it doesn't the console, move three of the mounting holes, and on the rear ones, they had to be bolted and supported with large washers from underneath the body. It is corrugated that portion underneath and can support quite a bit through a bolt, nut, lock washer and flat washer.

 

You sure you got the right brackets from corbeau ? According to there website they make seat brackets specifically for our year trucks for a quick and easy install ? Or are they b.s. ?

 

It's pure BS. C22046L and C22046R did not fit my 93 SR5 pickup. After this pic I had the brackets cut down to as low as they could go and I still sat way too high. I also gotta take back the " just like stock " statement. Not long after I was miserable again.

For anyone looking at new seats for their yota i'm sure my experience can help. I made the mistake of getting rid of my SR5 stockers back in early 2010 due to them being ripped to hell, and I payed for it dearly. Here is a list of seats I went though in the span of 2 1/2 years, in order.. All online purchases..

- Corbeau Baja SS - Ok, but you need an adapter in order for them to attach to the brackets. If youre a guy you'll also clip your nads if youre not careful getting in and out ( thigh bolsters). These were a pain in the ass to get in and out of and it gets old quick. Get seat covers if you get these. I made the mistake and didn;t and they ripped very quick. You'll also lose access to the back of your cab since they are a one piece seat ( if you have an xtra cab ). These are VERY comfortable seats IMO, but you have to make concessions with this purchase. Great offroad seats ( Thigh Bolsters ).

- Corbeau Moab - Horrible, the side bolsters are way too tight and constrict you bad.

- Scat procar seats - Horrible and I returned quickly. I had to buy brackets for these which also didn't line up, and I ended up getting them customized as well. These brackets sat too high also. This was a failed experience trying to get away from corbeau. Big mistake on my part

- Corbeau Sport seats - Closest thing corbeau makes to stock SR5s that I could find in design, not comfortability. With these seats and with the corbeau brackets you can only slide so far back. I'm 6'2 and I was used to being able to stretch more than these offered. Couple this with the fact that you sit way too high with the brackets I eventually couldn't get comfortable which is important for me, and I moved on. (edit) these are also very stiff seats and don't offer very good back support IMO.

The last three seats were over the course of 6 months. The Baja SS lasted the longest in my ride. The way you sit in these seats allow you to stretch more if you're a taller guy, they really tuck you in after break-in. They don't have the issues the sport seats have and are the best IMO.. They almost spoil you with how comfortable they become. (edit) I was using the Baja SS before I cut the brackets down, and the comfortability sort of made you forget about how high you were sitting.

After all this I then began my search on carpart.com for some 93 SR5 stockers and found some gems. The way the brackets are designed, how high you sit, and how the stock SR5 seats just tuck you in is simply irreplaceable.

tl;dr

keep it stock - If you go corbeau or scat, get those brackets cut down as low as possible.

 

Thank you so much for sharing this info , I gonna totally keep the factory sr5 seats and spend the money to have them reupholstered. I was almost gonna go with the corbeau gts lll seats but at 450 a seat I would much rather spend it on some blk suede for my sr5 seats!!!

2007 TRD Buckets, what a difference!

 

I just put these in my truck.. They're buggy seats. Suspension type and so far I have not had the back pain I used to get..
The only thing is I don't think they would work if you're tall ( I'm 5'10")..





My factory floor mounts were cracked and had some rust so I cut them out and made new ones.. the seats (front) are mounted with a rod that goes across and is locked in with a clip. The back mount has a pin on the floor and is clipped down ( think hood pin).. I can pull the back pin and tilt the seat forward if needed.

 

Do you have more pics and info for us on this?

Wrapping up my much needed bench kill. Tell me what you guys think.

 

These were from a 95 Acura Integra. Swapped rear outer footings and made a spacer for rear inner. Just got integra buckles so I can use the slick little bolt on receivers as well(i'll post more on that later when I finish).
