Should I buy this 1995 4 Runner

Hi:
I have the opportunity to buy a 1995 6 cyl 4 runner. The price seams good $2.000 It has 168 thousand and change on the speedometer. It's a auto
the color is Gold ? Bronze?.It has some dents and dings no tunes at this time.
What I would like to know does this 1995 have a air bag in the steering wheel? I had the bad chance of useing one 2 weeks ago on my 1995 Ford
ranger that is now gone so I'm using the insurance money to make my
next transportation purchase. It would be the daily driver to work Thats
123 miles round trip to work 5 some time 6 days aweek. The month and year
it was made was 3/95. I have had friends that have had Hi mileage on there
Toyotas over 200.000 So the milage on this 4 Runner is ok with me.Just the
big thing to me is the airbag .I got hit hard by the one in my Ford Ranger but
I feel it helpped me out in the long run.I live in Southern Oregon and love to drive on the fire roads in the hills I have taken my Ranger to some nice places
but that was with a lot less milage that was when gas was cheap here 2 years ago.I have the Vin # is there any info that Ican gain from that #?

Thanks
Scott Hannah

No, it doesn't have an airbag. The 3.0 V6 engine is known for blowing it's original head gaskets. Other than that, it is a solid truck. The 3.0 isn't exactly the most powerful engine out there (you ain't gonna be winning any races). $2k sounds like a great deal to me.

No the 95 does not have air bags. As far as the Vin #, go to www.carfax.com and you can check out the rig there. Good luck

I would say its a good deal but make sure that it has some maintenance history. See if the headgasket or timing belt has been done in the past. Good maintenance history is a must for keeping toyotas alive through the higher mileage years. If not you will have to endure the maintenance that was neglected. And it is expensive with the yotas. I love my 4runner and I have a 95 but couldn't necessarily call if driving it daily would be great or a chore. The gas mileage is not as good as your old ranger nor will it be as fast. So I guess it all comes down to what you are looking for in a daily driver. Lastly, look over the body for rusting. There are some problem areas which tend to rust on the 4runners. If the maintenance history checks out, definitely buy it but if not keep looking.

The 5 speed with the 3.0 does pretty well but the auto sucks a lot of power and fuel. I got about 17 mpg (5 speed manual) at 70+ mph highway on 32" BFG's with an ARB bumper, sliders and a 200# rear bumper--with 4.56 gearing. A friend had the same truck but was still totally stock with the auto and 31's. Get got about 10 mpg and no amount of tuning--we tried everything--improved it much.

i got a month subscription to Carfax when I just bought my 95 4runner a few weeks ago, so if you want I will look it up for you and email you the results... that is if you haven't gotten one already. I'd be glad to do it.

This Year Does NOT Have Airbags....

The First Year The 4Runner came with an Airbag, it came with dual airbags, and that was in 1996...

I drive a 97' myself with the 3.4 litter engine...

It gets up and goes, gas....def not gonna be as good as your old ranger...

But It's a toyota dude.....

They can take a beating....

But your decision and search....

Good Luck
